Supervisor, Purchasing

What will you do?

  • Manage and guide a team to achieve key supply chain metrics and improve supplier performance.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews with senior leaders to determine goals, develop project plans, and review performance.
  • Provide leadership by demonstrating process improvement values.
  • Lead initiatives to improve EDI accuracy with suppliers.
  • Develop strategies to reduce backlog and drive revenue recognition.
  • Quantify and measure actual versus encouraged results, reacting to trends to ensure performance expectations are met.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to improve processes and drive balanced corrective actions.
  • Coordinate supplier service and operational performance to meet internal targets and customer expectations.
  • Lead Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) calls with suppliers.
  • Supervise the creation of performance improvement plans detailing root causes, actions taken, and recovery dates.
  • Conduct stand-up meetings to address cross-functional issues.
  • Apply Microsoft Office tools and data mining tools for tracking key supply chain metrics.
  • Support excess and obsolete inventory objectives through supplier negotiations.
  • Find opportunities in People, Process, and Technology to inspire change and efficiency.
  • Manage inventory replenishment processes and exceptions.
  • Build productive internal and external relationships.
  • Lead ad hoc or special projects to benefit the group.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 4+ years’ experience in supply chain, purchasing, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous people management or supervision experience.
  • Supplier/vendor management experience.
  • APICS certification (CPIM, CIRM, CSCP).
  • Lean/Six Sigma or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with SQL Server, COGNOS, or other data mining tools.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills.
