The Web Manager develops and maintains the online presence for Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy. They are responsible for ongoing web development, content production, maintenance, meeting the university's accessibility policy, user experience design, and search engine and site speed performance optimizations for the primary web properties of McCourt. The McCourt School website and other web properties represent cornerstones of our brand and act as the hub for all earned, owned and paid media efforts, prospective student engagement, current student and faculty communications, and alumni community engagement. The Web Manager will be a nimble, creative web professional with a passion for advancing the mission of a nonprofit university in the digital space. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Track metrics and analytics and provide ongoing reporting, analysis, and context on the main site’s performance.
Act as the primary point of contact for all content updates to and governance of the McCourt website.
Work closely with the Web Services team in University Information Services (UIS) and Information Systems Technology (IST) to ensure McCourt’s website functionality and design adhere to the University’s central WordPress codebase; Any front-end development in the central CMS (WordPress) will follow all Web Services code standards and processes.
Work with stakeholders across McCourt and Georgetown University as a member of the McCourt Strategic Communications team to ensure that primary business objectives tied to online properties are successfully met and essential platform standards are maintained.
Monitor Google Analytics (GA4), Siteimprove, and other server and site performance tools to maintain Section 508 compliance and core website performance standards.
Work Interactions
The Web Manager reports to the McCourt Director of Communications and works closely and collaboratively with the central McCourt Strategic Communications team, the McCourt Dean’s Office and other stakeholders across McCourt and Georgetown University, including academic and research faculty and staff. The Web Manager will also interact with members of the MarTech team (a central team at Georgetown whose work focuses on the intersection of marketing and technology) on web updates related to search engine optimization (SEO) and McCourt’s paid marketing activities.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience in website content management, front-end programming, and/or digital marketing
Strong experience with at least one enterprise web content management system, preferably WordPress
Intermediate knowledge of HTML and CSS and their application within a centrally-managed WordPress environment
Experience ensuring and maintaining Section 508 web accessibility in compliance with WCAG 2.2
Experience in responsive web design and mobile-first methodologies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Fluency in the use of design software for web development, such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Experience Designer and/or Figma
Strong organizational, project and time management skills
Ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace and using Google Analytics as a diagnostic tool for site performance and SEO
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of JavaScript programming language, particularly jQuery
Familiarity with PHP programming
Familiarity with SiteImprove as a diagnostic tool for site performance

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
