Purpose of the role:

As a Managing Director and Deputy Head of Japanese Corporate Banking Division for APAC, this position is responsible for the following:

  • Define and drive the division’s strategic vision, goals and objectives, ensuring adoption and execution at all levels.

  • Lead the development and implementation of regional strategies and business plans to grow the Japanese Corporate Banking Business.

  • Leverage on key statistical performance metrics to optimize business growth, strengthen the division’s position and contribute to BSC in the APAC region.

  • Lead and expand cross-country business initiatives and strategic projects across Singapore and the broader region, including Japanese Corporate, Global Corporate and Global Commercial Banking (JG) collaboration as well as Asia domain strategies.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive the execution of the division's strategy and business plans for Japanese Corporate Banking Business in APAC region.

  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders and colleagues across divisions to align business strategies and ensure seamless execution of business strategies.

  • Lead performance analysis, evaluating revenue and expense data to provide strategic insights and updates.

  • Oversee the consolidation of statistical performance figures for management reporting and monitoring.

  • Spearhead cross-country business initiatives and strategic projects across the region, including JG collaboration and Asia domain strategies.

  • Establish and enforce Japanese Corporate policy for Compliance and Internal control, working closely with the Team Heads.

  • Monitor financial performance, ensuring alignment with projected targets and strategic objectives.

  • Oversee regional expense budgets and headcount in the region to optimize operational efficiency.

  • Oversee Balanced Score Card for the region, ensuring alignment with business goals.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop new products, business frameworks and partnerships with relevant divisions to enhance customer support.

  • Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to team members to resolve complex issues.

  • Ensure strict adherence to company policies and guidelines, as well as regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree qualified.

  • At least 10 to 15 years of finance planning experiences within Japanese Corporate Banking industry.

  • Proficient in both written and spoken Japanese to effectively communicate with Japanese stakeholders and senior management in Tokyo Head Office and across APAC on finance and business strategies planning.

  • Proven track record in developing and executing business strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams.

  • Strong coaching, mentoring and leadership skills.

  • Strong expertise in profit and expense budgeting for business planning.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively and professionally diverse stakeholders.

  • Ability to navigate organization change and manage evolving stakeholder demands.

  • Highly organized with efficient time management skills.

  • Strong understanding of APAC markets, corporate banking products and services.

  • Strong understanding of the regional banking regulatory environment with particular focus on the local regulations.
