Job Summary:

Regis University in Denver, Colorado invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry. At the rank of Assistant Professor, the selected candidate will teach seven courses (21 credits) over a nine-month period. The course load will be reduced to six classes (18 credits) for qualified Scholarly Academic faculty. Successful candidates will show potential for excellent teaching and noteworthy scholarship in their discipline.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop instructional plans (syllabus) for each class and ensure course content aligns with department standards

  • Plan Chemistry lectures, labs and assignments for general Chemistry students as well as those with an emphasis in biochemistry

  • Teach general Chemistry classes to non-science majors

  • Teach upper-division Chemistry classes and labs, contribute a class to the integrative core curriculum

  • Grade assignments, papers, and other student work, monitor student progress, and provide additional guidance or instruction, where appropriate

  • Maintain office hours and occasionally meet with students outside office hours to support student learning;

  • Advise students

  • Maintain currency in Chemistry, including occasional related conference attendance

  • Develop and continue scholarly research in the field, which may include the involvement of undergraduate students

  • Attend Department of Chemistry meetings

  • Perform community or academic service outside the Department on committees, groups and/or task forces

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Chemistry

  • Experience or education must include demonstrated theoretical knowledge of inorganic and biochemistry methods and techniques, including mass spectroscopy, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, gel electrophoresis, primer design and mutagenesis.

  • Completion of post-doctoral position in inorganic biochemistry at an institution of higher education.

  • Education and/or post-doctoral position must include inter-institutional collaborative research experience; and 3 years’ experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate student research.
