REQUIREMENTS: Must meet the following requirements to move forward in the screening process:
Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent; and
     (a) Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service paraeducator assessment; or
     (b) Hold an associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
     (c) Have earned seventy-two quarter credits or forty-eight semester credits at the one hundred level or higher at an accredited college or univertiy; or
     (d) Have completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council.

1. Understand and support the educational environment and the District's mission, vision, and Strategic Plan.
2. Promote collaborative decision-making and consensus among groups of individuals with diverse interests, values, and needs and inspire and support staff in carrying out District and Department goals.
3. Participate as a member or facilitator in meetings, workshops, and seminars that may involve a wide range of issues such as goals attainment, problem resolution, and District operations for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job duties.
4. Recommend solutions to a wide variety of issues for the purpose of addressing the short and long-term needs of the District.

1. Communicate with classroom teachers regarding student needs and instructional plans.
2. Work with students individually or in small groups in a variety of content areas/subjects for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives, leading discussions, and implementing individual educational plans.
3. Assist staff, as appropriate, in the design, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs and student progress.
4. Monitors and documents student behavior and progress and maintains communication with classroom staff and other staff.
5. Models appropriate behavior for students and assists in student supervision and discipline.
6. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff, parents, and students.
7. Participate in professional growth activities and continuing education opportunities.
8. Transport students to/from school related activities.
9. Perform other related duties and complete special projects as assigned by building principal or classroom teachers.

16. Ability to use necessary equipment, computers, machinery, tools, or software

• Work is generally performed in a clean and healthy environment
• Exposed to visual display terminal for prolonged periods
• Requires dexterity and precision in the operation of a computer
• May require lifting of 20 LBS or less.
• Involves sitting, walking and standing

* Higher pay rate for:

• Satisfactory completion of Educational Para-Professional Apprenticeship Program or 
• Accredited AA Degree (official transcripts are required) or
• Seventy-two (72) quarter credits or forty-eight (48) semester credits (official transcripts are required)
