Position Summary:

Findlay Automotive Group is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team, supporting a multi-location dealership group. This role is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, experience in financial reporting, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintains accounting data in accordance with department policy and procedures as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP)

 

  • Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Assist in conducting internal audits of dealership departments (sales, service, parts, finance, etc.), as needed
  • Analyze financial records, transactions, and reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Help identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather data and generate reporting
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive financial information
  • Utilize CDK (Dealer Management System) for accounting functions and reporting
  • Other duties as assigned

 


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
  • Knowledge of standard accounting practices and experience with accounting systems; Prior experience in DMS a plus, but not required
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interest in the automotive industry and dealership operations is a plus
