NOTE: A deployment of approximately 3–4 months is expected within the first year of employment. All travel and lodging expenses will be fully covered by Tyson—no out-of-pocket costs. The typical travel schedule involves departing on Mondays, working on-site Tuesday through Thursday, and returning home on Fridays. Weekends are spent at home. We understand personal needs may come up, and we're committed to being flexible and supportive throughout the deployment.

Summary:

The Plant Lean Leader is responsible for driving the Tyson Lean MOS (Manufacturing Operating System) processes and ensuring the plant is following the standardized methodology. This person will deliver lean training for any program changes and ensure that the site is up to date with any program governances changes. They will provide direction, teaching, and coaching to Team Members throughout the facility on the Tyson Lean MOS program. This individual will be responsible for advising the Plant Manager on how the team is doing with the processes and if the culture is owning the change. The Lean Leader will ensure the plant is maintaining the War Room, publishing the weekly report out, and developing the strategy with the team on how to mature the process to pass the next checkpoint.  This individual will also support the operations team in the facility by providing technical guidance and support to achieve KPI’s and optimal performance.  This individual will assist in maintaining our labor performance reporting systems.  This individual will analyze systems and performance to develop process improvements and controls.  The individual will assist in developing production processes that maximize efficiency, reduce waste, optimize capacity utilization, and improve overall performance and profitability to impact our bottom line.  Any other tasks as deemed appropriate for the successful performance of Tyson Foods, Inc.

Successful candidate must be flexible to work outside the normal hours as required by business needs.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintain all governance and program administration requirements for the plant.
• Attend DMS Level meetings on a daily basis and provide teaching, coaching, feedback, and complete health checks.
• Ensure problem solving methodology is being followed with weekly meetings, A3 documentation, backlog of projects, value of solutions, etc.
• Publish weekly report out to leadership on lean journey and milestones achieved.
• Maintain the War Room in conjunction with the standardized SOP and update all documentation on a weekly basis.
• Maintain the action item registry and ensure visibility to site leadership as well as relevant stakeholders. This will include publishing the number of action items opened each week, closed actions, current open actions, and delinquent action items.
• Be the liaison between the Corporate Lean Team which will provide direction on the program and processes and the Plant Manager for how ownership of the process is going at the plant.
• Assess culture of adoption with the plant team by using the maturity assessment tool to define ownership. Lean Leader is responsible to develop action plans with plant leadership to improve their processes to be eligible for the next set of lean tools within 90 to 120 days post-deployment.
• Assist Operations Leadership with maintaining and updating all standard work instructions to align with the company standard.
• Troubleshoot and escalate any issues related to the automated SPQDC boards.
• Work in conjunction with Plant Manager to escalate any problems not remediated through problem solving processes to Level 4.
• Ensure all documentation is done correctly and submitted along with the escalation.
• Participate/Lead Kaizen events that get generated from problem solving escalations.
• Collaborate with all cross-functional departments as needed to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and successes to senior management and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and team members to ensure project milestones are met within established timelines.
• Implement change management methodologies to ensure successful adoption of process improvements.
• Train and support all new employees on the Tyson Lean MOS processes to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Utilize data-driven insights to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement.
• Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and identify opportunities for enhancement.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize processes and increase efficiency.
• Identify and analyze current processes to identify areas for improvement.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Industrial Engineering, Agriculture, or other technical degree combined with applicable industry experience is preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

•  2+ years of management experience in a manufacturing environment with food industry experience preferred.
• A Lean/CI background is a plus.

Communication Skills:

• Ability to effectively engage people at all levels of the organization, solid coaching and mentoring skills, ability to develop and create documentation to include work instructions, SOP’s, playbooks, program administration, weekly report outs, templates, and forms.

Travel:

• Less than 20% travel after participating in the deployment of the Tyson Lean MOS processes at another facility.

Specific Skills:

• Strong business acumen, lean and/or continuous improvement skills, process management background, strong computer skills in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms; SAP, Power BI, Redzone, and other Smart Factory applications.
