Description:

CTG is seeking a Furnace Equipment Operator to work on site in Wheeling, IL. This is a 6 months contract to hire working on a rotating 1st and 2nd shift schedule. There is training provided for this job and previous experience is not required. 

 

Job Title: Furnace Equipment Operator

Duration: 6 months contract to hire

Location: Wheeling, IL

Hours: 7am-3pm or 11am-7pm (rotating shift)

Pay Rate: $21-22 per hour

 

Production

  • Read production schedules and work orders to determine processing sequences, internal temperatures, and heat cycle requirement for raw materials to be heat-treated.
  • Load up metal ingots into containers and insert each ingot directly into furnace to melt.
  • Record operational or production data.
  • Scrape and remove splattered metal pieces stuck on or around the inside of the furnace equipment.
  • Maintain and operate various types of equipment.
  • Evaluate a sample powder by using measuring equipment to meet the specification.
  • Package finished product, metal powder, to prepare for shipment and attach appropriate labels and tags to each bag.
  • Repair, replace, and maintain equipment as needed, using hand tools.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance of each equipment and ducts to make sure there is no build-up inside
  • Collect splattered metals and put them into the re-melting equipment to remove impurity.
  • Perform scheduled “5S” to maintain a clean, organize and safe work area.
  • Perform production related data entry and generate various reports.
  • Develop and maintain replacement parts list according to schedule.
  • Perform some maintenance of the furnaces, replace parts, and wash and cleaning of furnace.
  • Understand and adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
    Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous work experience working with heat-treating furnaces or hearing equipment.
  • Basic math skills
  • Proficiency with MSWord, Excel, and experience with an ERP system, i.e., SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics
  • Must have general excellent health, physical strength and dexterity and ability to meet all physical demands of the job.
  • Ability to work in an environment that occasionally gets hot, cold, and loud.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Must be able to read and speak English.
  • Valid driver’s license

 

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential job functions of this position. Work in a production area from moderately quiet level of noise to elevated level of noise. The temperature around the furnace will be extremely hot.

 

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $21.00 to $22.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
