QED Systems, LLC, is currently recruiting for a Systems Engineer to join our team at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, to support our C5ISR Center Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Division contract.  

The Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for the design and configuration of hardware and software systems in support of Science & Technology (S&T) related activities.  


Duties:

  • Information System – deploy, configure, and troubleshoot instantiations for both lab and field environments.  Configure client machines to interface with commercial internet system servers. Federate multiple commercial internet system servers across disparate nodes.
  • Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) – deployment, management, configuration, and troubleshooting of CSfC hardware and software systems to include PM Tactical Network’s Secure Wireless Mesh Remote Endpoint (SWMRE) secure wireless system.
  • Manage tactical data exchanges and visualization.
    • Variable Message Format (VMF)
    • Data Dissemination Service (DDS)
    • MIL STD 2525 symbology
  • Cloud Computing – configuration and management of cloud instantiations (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Containerization technologies – deploy containers in a distributed architecture.
    • Container Runtimes – Docker, Microsoft
    • Cluster orchestration – Kubernetes
  • Networking Appliances / Network configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
    • Cisco Routers
    • Cisco Switches
    • Firewalls (Cisco / Palo Alto)
  • Manage Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN) and standalone network assets.
  • Manage NetApp software products, to include installation and management of ONTAP, StorageGRID, and Cloud Sync.
  • Virtual machine and hypervisor installation and configuration (VMware, Hyper-V, Azure, Oracle).
    • Install and manage VMWare software: ESXi, vSAN, vSphere, vCenter.
  • Encryption hardware configuration and management.
  • Database configuration and management (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB).
  • Risk Management Framework (RMF) Accreditation.
    • Generate artifacts for Authority to Operate (ATO) and Interim Authority to Test (IATO).
  • Network troubleshooting / stimulation.
    • Wireshark – Packet Captures for analysis.
    • MGEN – Network traffic stimulation.
    • Iperf – Network performance tool.
  • Architect network topologies and produce related artifacts and diagrams.
  • Assist with the development of test plans for lab and field experimentation.
  • Document research and development findings using MS Office Suite products.
  • Support lab/field testing and experimentation events and associated risk reduction events.
  • Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

Required Skills & Experience: 

  • Knowledge of Army Command and Control (C2) processes and Programs of Record applications.
  • Experience in C2 test and thread development/execution and organization of lab-based risk reduction (LBBR) events.
  • Experience with network appliances and able to configure Cisco Switches and routers using Command Line Interface (CLI) and integration of various network devices.
  • Expertise with server and systems integration and knowledge of systems administration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Linux operating systems and administration is required.”
  • Knowledge of C5ISR/EW Modular Open Suite of Standards / CMOSS Mounted Form Factor (CMOSS/CMFF) hardware and integration is preferred.
  • Experience with Tactical Satellite and Terrestrial communications systems, preferred.
  • Wireless communication transports (millimeter wave (mmWave) / Wi-Fi, preferred.
  • Understanding of Army Command Posts, Legacy Tactical Operations Centers (TOCs), Command Post Integrated Infrastructure (CPI2), preferred.
  • Data storage – Attached Storage (NAS)/Storage Area Network (SAN), preferred.

Required Clearance: 

  • ACTIVE CLEARANCE LEVEL REQUIRED: Secret

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science is required. 
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience required.

Travel:

Less than 25% travel is expected for this position. Travel may include continental United States and outside continental United States locations.

Work Environment:

This position may be performed in a variety of locations, including but not limited to, commercial and/or government offices, test and integration labs, government facilities and depots, and test & evaluation and proving grounds.

Physical Demands:

Physical demands of this position include ability to:

  • Be independently mobile.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.
  • Withstand prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and computer use.
  • Climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as glasses/goggles (eyes), ear plugs/muffs (hearing), hard hats, and breathing respirators/masks.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a full‐time position, Monday through Friday. Flexibility around core hours. Travel may occur outside of normal core hours.

Estimated Salary Range: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00, annually. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. This represents the typical range for fully qualified candidates for this position based on experience, geographic location, and other factors. The final offer amount may vary.
