Shift: This is a hybrid role working Tuesday-Thursday in person at corporate office in Scottsdale


Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring a Patient Responsibility Specialist. Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Patient Responsibility Specialist is responsible for the determination and collection of patient responsibility payments. This role will include understanding what insurance options a patient may have and helping them navigate choices and decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initially it will be to help communicate to patients and clients any ACA plans they
  • may be enrolled in and that impact
  • The position will also provide guidance to the patient on how to navigate insurance
  • portals and websites to ensure they are making informed choices on their coverage
  • Eventually the role will be a liaison between the clinics and finance to ensure
  • patient responsibility clearly outlines to the patient so they understand their financial
  • commitments
  • The goal will be that the candidate will help formulate and implement a robust
  • process that addresses the patient responsibility issues at CMS

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • At least 3 years of patient interaction, specifically as it relates to patient financial responsibility

Skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively between all organizational levels and with outside providers
  • Intermediate computer knowledge, including ability to navigate in electronic health records
  • General knowledge and aptitude for working independently with adults of mixed ethnic groups
  • Culturally competent and sensitive to client and employee needs
  • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Problem solving, conflict resolution, time management, and strong customer service skills
  • Strong team player comfortable working in a fast-paced setting
  • Flexible with the ability to work in a continuously changing environment

Tools and Equipment Requirements

  • The ability to use a phone, computer, printer, and copier is required.
  • Frequent use of Microsoft office products, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Microsoft Teams and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to use the internet and various web browser software is required.
