We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant / AP Clerk to join our Accounting team. This role is essential to ensuring the accuracy of our financial records and the smooth operation of our accounting functions across multiple business units.

Job Summary:

This role will be responsible for processing accounts payable, assisting with general accounting functions, and managing incoming cash payments. The ideal candidate will be proactive, analytical, and capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice verification, expense coding, and data entry.
  • Ensure department classification is maintained in accordance with budget.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare and process payment runs (checks, ACH, and wire transfers).
  • Record and reconcile incoming cash deposits.
  • Perform general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.

Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related business field (preferred).
    • 4+ years of experience in accounts payable and/or general accounting.
    • Strong knowledge of general financial accounting principles.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to work with formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, Opera Cloud, PlateIQ, is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
