We’re looking for a Frontend Senior Software Engineer to join our Pet Health Engineering team in Boston, MA. This is your chance to work with modern technologies to build scalable, high-performance systems that power Chewy’s fastest-growing business. What You’ll Do:

  • Architect and develop scalable, distributed systems and frontend services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical decisions.
  • Provide technical leadership across the full SDLC—coding, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Champion engineering excellence by advocating best practices in code quality, testing, and performance.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, balancing technical options and trade-offs.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, participate in on-call rotations, and help drive operational excellence.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of software engineering experience building customer-facing applications.
  • Strong background in:
    • Frontend: React, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/jQuery
    • SQL and relational databases
    • Cloud infrastructure (especially AWS: EKS, S3) and observability tools like DataDog or Dynatrace
  • Experience designing system architecture and leading projects from concept to deployment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Clear communication and a collaborative, team-first mindset.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in e-commerce or high-traffic, customer-facing platforms.
