The Role
NetX is seeking a Systems Engineer to help maintain, improve, and scale our SaaS infrastructure. In this role, you will troubleshoot system issues, implement long-term solutions, and contribute to the reliability, performance, and security of our platform.
You’ll work closely with a collaborative engineering team in a flexible environment inspired by the Shape Up methodology, where communication, ownership, and continuous improvement are highly valued.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor systems, infrastructure, and application environments.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems and software.
- Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements.
- Maintain security, backup, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and infrastructure tools (e.g., Ansible).
- Support cloud, containerized, and virtualized environments.
- Participate in on-call rotation for operational support.
- Collaborate with developers, support teams, and vendors to resolve issues efficiently.
- Continuously identify opportunities for automation and proactive improvements.
- Occasionally perform physical hardware tasks onsite at a Portland data center.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience administering Linux-based systems.
- 3+ years of experience with application stacks such as Tomcat, Apache, or NGINX.
- 3+ years of cloud experience, preferably AWS.
- Experience with containerization and virtualization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or VMware.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Icinga, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible.
- Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages.
- Solid networking knowledge including TCP/IP, OSI layers, and firewall management.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) platforms.
- Familiarity with tools and technologies such as:
- GitLab
- Java
- DNS
- FFMpeg
- ImageMagick
- Ghostscript
- ExifTool
- Jira
- Experience working with digital media workflows or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Familiarity with the Shape Up development methodology.
