The role

The DevOps Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient development, deployment, and operation of our software systems. DevOps Engineer will work collaboratively with development, operations, and security teams to automate and streamline processes, implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and optimize infrastructure for reliability and scalability. Your expertise will contribute to achieving faster software delivery and improving the overall stability of our technology stack.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, building, and deployment of OS and applications.
  • Automate manual tasks using configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) and scripting languages.
  • Manage infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Implement and manage containerization platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for application deployment and scaling.
  • Ensure the security of software systems and infrastructure through best practices and security tools.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for critical incidents.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your education, skills and experience will include:

Essential

  • Preferably tertiary qualifications in information technology, or related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency in continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
  • Significant experience with Linux, open source applications and tools management.
  • Experience with configuration management and automatic deployment tools such as Ansible, AWX.
  • Experience with configuration management and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Scripting skills using languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Experience in producing and reviewing technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Desirable

  • Experience with X509 certificates.
  • Experience in monitoring and analytic tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack.
  • Experience with development environment and the tools used to develop and support software such as the Atlassian tool suite i.e., Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Fisheye, Crucible.

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance preferably to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one.
