The program offers an immersive 16-week experience for those who have a base foundation of technical training. Microsoft Leap combines in-classroom learning with hands-on engineering projects, working on real teams and real products within our organization.

As a Technical Program Manager in Microsoft Leap, you will design product architecture and develop solutions to complex technical needs, while identifying trends in product quality and performance, to deliver on the roadmap. You will drive continuous improvement in quality, profitability, supportability and delivery, and act as in-house advocate for millions of people worldwide who use Microsoft products. This opportunity will allow you to lead the development and implementation process for products and services that exceed customer expectations, work cross functionally with internal and external partners, and define or change existing features.

This Microsoft Leap Cohort will begin on January 21st, 2025, and finish on May 9th, 2025. Throughout the Microsoft Leap cohort, participants will commit to working 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation process for products and services typically involving large, complex cross-functional implementation with multiple internal teams or external partners.
  • Responsible for specific features in our technology solutions for the full product cycle, working on the initial feature planning and design, managing the specifications of development, and monitoring on-going operations to better understand customer experiences.
  • Work collaboratively with teammates to ensure our products exceed customer expectations, while delivering on the roadmap.
  • Communicate throughout the process to understand progress towards delivery, technical challenges, and to provide clarity on customer needs using a data driven approach.
  • Demonstrate an ability to learn and adopt relevant new technologies, tools, methods and processes to leverage in your solutions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of relevant training in one of these areas:
    • Graduated from a coding academy or boot camp and have previous work experience in any field
    • OR Self-taught programmer demonstrating recent development projects or professional experience
    • OR Degree from a community college in computer science or related field
    • OR Degree from a college/university in computer science or related field with a previous career in tech, plus a 2+ year career break
    • OR equivalent experience
Other Requirements

  • Currently authorized to work in the United States for the entire duration of the Leap cohort. Immigration sponsorship will not be provided by Microsoft.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrate understanding in software engineering, software development, or project management fundamentals that affect code implementation and customer experience.
  • Familiarity with managing schedules and nurturing cross-group collaboration.
  • Demonstrate skills in articulating the business and customer needs, and awareness of current technology trends.

The base pay range for this internship is USD $5,460 - $10,680 per month. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $7,040 - $11,640 per month.
