Job Description

The Transportation Services Group (TSG) has an immediate need for a Regional Team Leader for the Midwest (IL, IN, MI) Transportation Design team. The candidate must be based in the Chicago, Indianapolis, or Lansing office.

Responsibilities include:

*Employee Development & Engagement
-Supporting your employees’ career journey
-Communicate, integrate, connect, and engage with your team members
-Actively participate in team members’ career paths, including:
-Identifying and completing appropriate training
-Achieving professional registration/certification
-Assigning challenging projects
-Select suitable mentors for employees as part of the Structured Mentoring Program, Career Compass
-Celebrate team members at important milestones (e.g., work anniversaries, promotions, professional registration)
*Performance & Talent Management
-Conduct timely and authentic annual performance appraisals
-Coordinate with technical mentors, project managers, TDMs, and others
-Recruit, interview, and hire new employees (as approved with the TDM) to support project workload and firm growth
*Technical Leadership
-Leverage and apply intellectual property, especially through TSG Community of Practice participation
-Ensure team members are compliant with QA/QC and Health & Safety procedures for project delivery
-Ensure completion of required training (Compliance, Health & Safety, Ethics, etc.)
*Project & Operational Oversight
-Deliver a legendary client experience with attention to quality
-Instill a sense of personal ownership for work product quality
-Coordinate workload and utilization goals within your Technical Services group
-Manage the direct labor (DL) budget and net hiring delivered for the team
-Coordinate technical staff assignments with your TDM
-Provide appropriate sales support, as coordinated with the TDM
*Administrative Responsibilities
-Approve time sheets and expense reports in a timely manner
-Support operational tasks that align with the goal to remain private
*Technical Expertise
-Possess technical experience in TSG Communities of Practice, specifically in Transportation Design

Minimum Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
-Professional engineering (PE) license
-12 years of related experience
-Domestic and/or international travel may be required The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands
-Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree

Background Check and Drug Testing Information

Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
