Job Description Summary

The Medical Extern will allow students to gain practical experience in a healthcare setting.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

• Daily participation on rounds on assigned inpatient clinical service.

• Participation in clinical care with supervision from Attending or Resident Physician.

• Attend lecture series on rehabilitation topics.

• Participate in rehabilitation related research project.

• Based on research project, produce a publication-quality paper for submission to the Sarah Baskin Award.

• Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Reporting Relationships:

• Director of Medical Student Education

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree

• Enrolled and in good standing at a medical school accredited by the LCME or AOA.

• Completion of one year of medical school.

Working Conditions:

• Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.

Pay Range: $16.20 per hour
