FARO’s Global Business Systems is seeking a hands-on, dynamic and seasoned Sr. SAP ABAP Developer to manage, design, develop and partner with cross-functional business functions to deliver sustainable SAP SD platform solutions supporting the FARO’s core business processes.

 

This role will be part of Integration & Development CoE leading efficient delivery of business-driven SAP programs/projects and day-to-day (operational and tactical) business needs. The individual will focus on representing business requirements, testing, design, development and ensures SAP (S/4 HANA, ECC) technology-based business solutions are successfully enabled.

 

This role requires a blend of leadership, business acumen, relationship management, business process understanding, project planning, project execution, application maintenance skills and is responsible for leading a full range of activities across one or more programs or projects with varying degree if complexity and scope, while partnering with internal customers and other stakeholders.

 

This position provides in depth expertise of ABAP development, supporting SD, MM, FI, RAR, PP business processes), while leading entire SDLC cycle to address project needs involving commercial teams with an aptitude to successfully and timely completion of all tasks/projects under direct and matrix environment.

 

In addition, this role will be the part of FARO’s rapid growing IT Center in Porto, Portugal. This is considered a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 2 days in the office per week.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create SAP design and technical specification documents, requirement gathering, conduct unit, integration and release testing to validate functionality to support production operations, release management and strategic projects.

  • Design, develop, and implement custom ABAP programs and SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI) integration flows to integrate different SAP modules or external systems including development of reports, modules, interfaces, forms, and workflows to address specific business requirements.

  • Creating and maintaining necessary mapping logic in CPI to transform data between systems and Troubleshooting integration issues within both ABAP and CPI environments.

  • Hands on experience in developing SAP ABAP software applications and CPI interfaces within SAP BTP platform, including BAPIs, BADIs, RFCs, IDOCs, LSMW, writing user exits, BDC coding, and interfaces using SAP Script, IDOC, BAPI, RFC, mapping tools, and CPI runtime environment.

  • Establish relationship and work closely with multi-functional & IT teams and maintain optimum service levels, including pursuing continuous improvement of business operations processes, using industry and ABAP development “standard methodologies”.

  • Design, Develop ABAP program and CPI Integrations to ensure system performance and stability. Perform technical analysis of cross-functional business operations processes (SD, MM, FI, RAR, PP), Salesforce integrations and propose appropriate solution.

  • Partner with peers with upgrades, new releases and monitor performance of the technical objects when coordinating, testing and problem-solving across business operations functions. Build collaboration by encouraging trust, mutual respect, and shared purpose among team members.

  • Collaborating with functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical integration solutions. Candidates must have strength in areas of technical analysis, testing, troubleshooting, security and data privacy.

  • Continually strive to provide more efficient or higher-quality products and services to respond to customers' needs. Routinely seek customer feedback and incorporate the data into strategies and action plans and must appreciate the overall benefits and impact on the supported business organizations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or related business process with 10+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in field with 7+ years of related work experience

  • 7+ years of experience in SAP ABAP development and BTP/CPI integration and min 5 years of track record in delivering ABAP applications solutions supporting SAP (SD, MM, PP, FICO), Salesforce integrations and eCommerce.

  • 7+ years of technical experience in ABAP development supporting SD, MM, FI, RAR, PP modules, and subscription billing experience is vital, while having a good understanding of Salesforce integration, master data, SAP reporting & forms, and experience with SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI).

  • Proficient in SAP ABAP programming and BTP platform development, strong understanding of ABAP syntax, data types, object-oriented programming concepts, ABAP Data Migration and advanced ABAP features. Understanding of SQL and database operations within the SAP environment

  • Web services (SOAP/REST/HTTP POST)

  • User Exits, BADIs, and Batch Programming

  • RESTful APIs (e.g.: OData) and SAP Gateway

  • Interface/dialog programming, BAPI, ALE and IDOC's

  • ABAP Objects, ABAP Reports, ABAP online transactions.

  • SAP BTP, S/4 HANA Development, CDS Views, AMDP Call.

  • SAP UI5 related technologies and development tools (e.g.: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, WebIDE, Eclipse, etc.)

  • Good interpersonal, organizational, planning and communications skills are vital, including strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to lead discussions, present ideas to audiences of all sizes, and communicate/ interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work in a team environment & interact effectively supporting ongoing maintenance, bug fixes and enhancements for ABAP applications, while delivering quality solution quality.

  • Ability to work under stress to meet deadlines in completing various, multiple and changing business priorities, requirements, and projects.

  • Must be self-motivated, demonstrate a “can-do” attitude and be a "results" driven individual with a positive attitude for a timely delivery of agreed upon solutions.

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • SAP CPI Certification

  • SAP S/4 HANA Migration

  • UI5 or Fiori Design and Development Certification

  • ABAP Development and Maintenance Certification
