Responsible for developing and sustaining a program to improve and support the quality metric performance across the pathology department. This will involve the organization of quality data as well as support improving test utilization and send out and outreach efforts. Works with the pathology Medical Director, Asset Manager, pathologist’s residents, conference pulls, clinical trial requests, second opinion cases, legal requests and archiving pathology materials. Interacts with clinicians to maintain open communication in the absence of the Asset Manager.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
- Serves as the project coordinator for all Pathology quality improvement goals and ensures plans meet the contractual requirements.
- Works with physicians, pathologists and other clinical and administrative personnel in gathering information as needed to archive department blocks slides and other assets.
- Represents the Asset team at Quality Assurance and quality Improvement meeting. Solicits internal input in preparation for external meetings.
- Retrieves testing data from commercial insurance companies and organizes the data by vendor and out-side facilities.
- Assists in the send-out of pathology tests and assets and performance of outreach to noncompliant companies.
- Coordinates metric appeals and the data collection necessary to support the process.
- Determines and disseminates best practices for pathology materials across the department.
- Works independently to perform required responsibilities.
- Works to improve report design to support managed care activities test utilization, and second opinions.
- Documents all project work according to laboratory standards.
- Performs other functions as assigned.
- Adheres to all of BMC’s RESPECT behavioral standards.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in a health care related field required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
None
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of one year of work experience in clinical environment, Physician Organizations, or health plan experience required. Three or more years of experience is preferred.

- Strong interpersonal skills working at all levels of the organization and able to influence others and achieve stakeholder support.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

- Maintains information in a confidential manner according to BMC policy.
- Knowledge of sequential filing systems
- Proficient in standard laboratory practices and techniques
- Possesses basic anatomy and physiology knowledge
- Able to work under stress of time constraints and heavy workload demands requiring accuracy.
