Remote Cloud Platform Engineer bei Emnify

Your Role

Are you passionate about cloud infrastructure? Do you enjoy resolving network challenges and implementing packet processing solutions? Emnify is seeking a talented DevOps Engineer for the Packet Gateway team, to enhance one of the most innovative components, the router of the telco world that speaks telco language on one side and internet protocols on the other.   

As a part of the larger Engineering department, our NxPG team develops scalable packet processing solutions that provide a competitive edge to the emnify product.

You will join a team of 10 engineers, fostering empathy and a collaboration mindset to ensure the continuous evolution of foundational packet processing capabilities at emnify. 

Our tech stack includes the following: Kubernetes (including relevant operational tooling and own operators), Linux, Jenkins, Opsgenie, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, AWS Services (EKS, EC2, ECS, Lambda, Direct Connect, ELB/ALB/NLB, WAF, API Gateway, X-Ray), high-performance data plane frameworks (eBPF, VPP), Golang, C/C++, Kafka, databases (Aurora MySQL, ElastiCache Redis but also evaluating other high performant KV like DynamoDB or SkyllaDB), Docker. 

The position can be based in emnify’s office either in Berlin or in Würzburg or remotely in Germany. 

Your Impact

• Ensuring scalability and stability of our infrastructure running on Amazon Web Services (AWS) 
• Working closely with the software engineers on architecting and deploying Kubernetes based applications 
• Conducting research, adoption, and improvement projects for development tools and overseeing upgrade and maintenance projects 
• Actively using metrics data to foster prioritization of engineering needs. 
• Ensuring reliable network connectivity and related services for the IoT devices of our customers, troubleshooting and resolving problems 
• Enabling and coaching junior talents within your team and mentoring engineers in other teams 

Your Skills

• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure services, event-driven architectures, testing practices, setting up and improving pipelines, monitoring, alerting 
• Work experience with designing and running applications on K8s 
• Strong experience with IP networks at layer 3 and 4 
• Experience in bringing highly scalable and distributed applications to production 
• Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking 
• Advanced documentation skills for effective knowledge-sharing and collaboration 

Nice to have: 

• Interested in telecommunication, Internet of Things, network protocols and NFV 
• Having worked with VPP, DPDK or eBPF/XDP 
• Knowledge of Geneve, GRE, BGP 
• Contribution to open-source projects
