Integrated Care Solutions is seeking a Clinical Educator – IPAC and Accreditation Lead who will collaborate closely with clinical managers, staff, and the leadership team to coordinate and deliver clinical education programs to the healthcare team. The successful candidate will serve as a role model, resource, and facilitator, supporting clinical staff in their professional development and clinical practice.

This dual responsibility includes supporting accreditation activities through the development, implementation, and evaluation of IPAC strategies and clinical education programs aimed at ensuring high-quality, safe care throughout the TCU team. The incumbent will ensure that all clinical staff, both new and experienced, possess the requisite knowledge, skills, and competencies to practice autonomously and provide evidence-informed care of the highest standard.

By advancing standards of care and promoting professional practice, the role enables Nurses and PSWs to operate to the full extent of their scope of practice, thereby positively influencing patient outcomes. Additionally, collaboration with Clinical Leads, Supervisors, and other key stakeholders will be essential to identify emerging trends and specialized competencies required to address the needs of a diverse and evolving client population.

Clinical Education

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate orientation and continuing education programs tailored to clinical staff. 
  • Partner with Clinical Quality and internal stakeholders to align education with clinical standards, regulatory expectations, and patient care goals.
  • Liaise with clinical managers to ensure priorities and needs are integrated into the education planning process.
  • Utilize relevant and current educational methodology to ensure knowledge translation that connects to practice (i.e. simulation, concept mapping, creating productive struggle).
  • Create and maintain clinical training materials, such as user guides and job aids.
  • Provide hands-on mentorship and education for nursing and clinical staff to support best practices, documentation standards, and professional development.
  • Lead training initiatives for new procedures and clinical programs.
  • Support and / or deliver educational events or opportunities for professional development, continuing education and innovative approaches to ongoing learning (e.g. in-services, on site education opportunities)
  • Monitor ongoing educational and training needs of nurses and other staff as required
  • Foster an environment and relationships with front line staff that encourage continuous learning
  • Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
  • Ensure adherence to Standards of Practice
  • Analyze feedback and performance data to improve training methodologies and enhance learning outcomes

IPAC & Health and Safety

  • Serve as the primary IPAC and Health & Safety liaison for the Transitional Care Unit, in alignment with Bayshore’s Clinical Quality and Corporate Health & Safety strategies.
  • Lead the implementation and monitoring of IPAC and Health & Safety programs, policies, and procedures within the TCU.
  • Conduct in-person IPAC and Health & Safety assessments, audits, and inspections at the TCU.
  • Coordinate outbreak management and response, working with Public Health and internal teams to mitigate risks.
  • Deliver training to ensure all TCU staff are compliant with current IPAC protocols and safety practices.
  • Collaborate with the Joint Health and Safety Committee to identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and analyze trends in infections and outbreaks, associated risk factors and current IPAC strategies, pursuing continuous quality improvement and making recommendations for changes when necessary.  

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BScN), Masters preferred. 
  • IPAC certification from an accredited program, or nearing completion
  • Certification in Adult Education preferred
  • Additional clinical certifications (e.g., wound care, palliative care, dementia care) are assets
  • Certified BLS trainer would be an asset

Licensing & Certification

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • JHSC Level 1 and 2 certification preferred
  • BLS Certification

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years in related role
  • 3–5 years of experience in clinical education, staff development, or training delivery
  • Proven leadership in outbreak management and infection control practices
  • Experience in transitional or post-acute care environments is preferred

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of IPAC standards, infectious disease prevention, epidemiology, and healthcare legislation
  • Skilled in adult education program design, training delivery, and clinical mentorship
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to educate and influence diverse teams
  • High-level organizational and project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, clinical documentation systems, and eLearning platforms
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within the TCU team
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to work on-site at the TCU
