Management Level:

Lead, coach, and develop a category advisor team that supports multiple Walmart categories. Serve as primary point of contact for Walmart merchants to ensure advisor team is executing against tactical and strategic business needs. Drives alignment with merchants in bringing strategy to life on-shelf through best-in-class merchandising and modular relay execution. Additionally, the Sr. Manager, Category Advising partners with peers and leadership in managing project calendars, team resources, merchandising strategy, relay execution, and cross-functional development between analyst and advisor team members.

Responsibilities:

• Leads advisor team in identifying and quantifying opportunities related to macro-space, assortment optimization, category adjacencies, promotions, and sales trends by conducting regular category State of the Business reviews with merchants.
• Manage team development and delivery of cohesive, fact-based recommendations that support category assortment and merchandising strategies using information from various sources.
• Responsible for the advisor team’s on-going delivery of category reporting, analytics, decision support, and special project work to Walmart merchants and support teams.
• Collaborates with MCOE management on modular capabilities training, trait maintenance, modular relays, and special projects.
• Drives advisor team post-modular relay reporting, space analytics, and modular relay correction of error evaluations with merchants.
• Continually assesses performance and abilities of direct reports and actively coaches for development through formal and on-the-job training opportunities while fostering a culture of inclusivity and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Education: bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: 7 plus years’ experience in Category Management, Sales, and or Consumer Insights. Experience with Fresh Meats categories as well as Walmart a plus.
• Special Skills: Demonstrated experience managing diverse people and skillsets; strong project management abilities; analytics and insights development competencies using disparate data sources. Excellent storytelling and communication competencies.
• Technical: Expert experience with Retail Link, Scintilla/Luminate, Nielsen, Circana, along with Business Intelligence solutions such as Engine, Nuqleous, or Shiloh preferred. Solid capabilities leveraging MS Office to include PowerPoint, Excel, PowerQuery, PowerBI.
• Demonstrated Skills: Leadership, out of the box thinking, Strategic Customer Experience, Sense of urgency and prioritization.
• Travel: Approximately 10%
• Supervisory Responsibility: Manage a team of five Category Advisors
