About the Job

We are looking for an experienced Director of Quality Engineering & Release Management who loves retail and has delivered best-in-class experiences for consumers. 

  •  Lead transformation of Quality Engineering, developing a strategic vision for and enabling team model that works laterally across the Technology organization to: 

    • Define, maintain and monitor Quality Engineering governance, across both manual and automated testing frameworks. 

    • Provide internal consulting and subject-matter expertise on QE best practices.  

    • Identify, implement and enhance Quality Engineering tools to support QE activities, including contract negotiations and ongoing vendor relationships, and training the wider organization on any new tools and their best practices.  

    • Lead systems integration, and performance and load testing all Technology solutions. 

    • Ensure availability of test data (complete and consistent) & standardized test environments.  

  • Lead transformation of Release Management, also as an enabling team:

    • Define, maintain and monitor Release Management governance, ensuring seamless deployments with minimal risk. 

    • Provide internal consulting and subject-matter expertise on Release Management best practices, such as blue-green deployments.  

    • Identify, implement and enhance Release Management tools to support Release activities, including contract negotiations and ongoing vendor relationships.  

    • Drive the adoption of automated testing tools and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines across the organization.  

    • Monitor and analyze related metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions in collaboration with your partners.  

    • Ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards, and security best practices.  

  • Recruit & develop top Quality Engineering and Release Management talent into a high-performing team. 

    • Foster an inclusive culture that advocates for diversity, collaboration and a consumer-first mindset.  

    • Build high-trust, mutually collaborative relationships that drive continuous improvements with partners across Engineering, Product, Technical Product, Program and Commercial teams. 

  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in Quality Engineering, testing automation, and release management. 

About You

  • 10+ years’ experience as a Quality Engineering leader, including 5+ years of team management.

  • Subject matter expertise in software testing methodologies, automation frameworks, and CI/CD practices.  

  • Range of experience with QE applications such as TestRail, Selenium, Browserstack, Page Vitals, Digital.AI, Gremlin and Dot Com Monitor, as well as JIRA, Jenkins, Git and cloud-based deployment platforms. 

  • Measurable experience driving process improvements and implementing scalable testing solutions; use data/metrics to interpret monitoring and find recommendations / actions. 

  • Comprehensive understanding of Agile and DevOps principles. 

This position is remote or hybrid eligible. Hybrid positions are based in our San Francisco, CA headquarters. You will be expected in office 3 days per week typically Tuesday-Thursday. Note, time in office can vary depending on business needs.

The expected starting salary range for this role is ($144,800-$219,300) per year. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on the location of the role. The amount a particular employee will earn within the salary range will be based on factors such as relevant education, qualifications, performance and business needs.
