Job Summary: About the Position: This position is with the Nutrition Care Division, Production and Service Branch located at Tripler Army Medical Center, on the Island of Oahu, HI. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices.
Major Duties:
- Progressively cook foods to be served to patients and in the Dining Hall.
- Cut and trim to cooking size, and weighs or measures portions and ingredients for regular or modified diets in accordance with menus, recipes or other instructions.
- Regulate cooking temperatures and steam pressure.
- Prepare and cook sauces, gravies, soups, stews, casserole dishes, hot cereals, pancakes and french toast.
- Operate, in accordance with safety regulations various mixers, grinders, steam kettles, electric urns, and other powered and mechanical kitchen equipment used in the preparation and service of food.
- Prepare, handle, and store all food items in accordance with Tri-Service Food Code food sanitation and safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook ~ without more than normal supervision. Your resume must indicate your ability to prepare a variety of menu items to include cooking pancakes, hamburgers, eggs, and preparing salads, gelatin, and simple desserts - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves frequent lifting or moving items weighing up to 30 pounds, constant standing and walking, and occasional lifting of items over 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work requires some exposure to soiling of hands by cooking oils or grease, some splashing of water, noise of equipment, cold of refrigerators, and heat of stoves and ovens. Is subject to danger of serious burns, and to cuts or other injuries in using powered equipment.
