CDL-A Driver – Dry Bulk Pneumatic Transfers (Local Route)

Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious CDL-A driver to perform local dry bulk pneumatic transfers between Heidelberg Materials silos at Port Canaveral and the railyard silo in Cocoa. This is a consistent, short-haul nightly route operating between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Load dry bulk cement at Heidelberg silos (575 Cargo Rd, Port Canaveral).
    • Drive trailer into the designated loading bay under the silo.
    • Exit vehicle and walk up 2 flights of stairs.
    • Lower safety cage on top of trailer walk out on top of trailer and open hatch.
    • Ensure trailer is properly aligned with the silo discharge chute.
    • Start Loading
  • Transport approximately 16 miles to the railyard silo at 3325 Beau Geste Rd, Cocoa.
  • Connect hoses for pneumatic unloading: 
    • Connect the discharge hose from the trailer to the silo inlet.
    • Connect the hose from the silo-based pneumatic pump to the trailer’s air inlet.
  • Operate the silo-based pneumatic pump: 
    • Turn on the pump system.
    • Open the trailer’s discharge valves.
    • Monitor pressure and flow gauges throughout the unloading process.
  • Disconnect and stow hoses after unloading is complete.
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs and communicate with dispatch and site personnel.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of truck and pneumatic equipment.

Route Details:

  • Loading Time: ~20 minutes (Once under spout)
  • Travel Time: ~22–30 minutes (depending on traffic)
  • Unloading Time (Pneumatic Pump-Off): ~1 hour
  • Total Cycle Time: ~2 hours per run (Without down time or waiting in line to load)
  • Total Trips/Loads: ~ 4-5 per shift

Requirements:

  • Valid CDL-A license with clean driving record
  • Experience with pneumatic tankers preferred (training available)
  • Ability to lift hoses and operate pumping equipment
  • Strong attention to safety and detail
