We are seeking a Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) to support the Religious Ministries Directorate (RMD) at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) in Twentynine Palms, CA.


The CRE will coordinate Catholic religious education programs, worship services, and parish activities in alignment with the Navy Chaplain Corps and the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS).


This is upon contract award - one-year contract with option years


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and schedule Catholic Masses, liturgical services, and seasonal events.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteer Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers, Musicians, and Ushers.
  • Develop and manage Faith Formation programs (Pre-K through Adult), including Sacramental preparation (First Communion, Confirmation, Baptism, Marriage, OCIA).
  • Prepare and distribute the weekly Catholic Sunday bulletin.
  • Plan and conduct youth programs, retreats, Vacation Bible School, and outreach activities.
  • Support the Religious Offering Fund administration and event planning.
  • Submit required reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables to the government representative.
  • Maintain strong communication with priests, chapel staff, volunteers, and parents.
  • Attend ministry planning and Chapel Council meetings as required.


REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing (letters of recommendation required).
  • Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, with:
    • A letter of recommendation from your pastor
    • A letter of recommendation from another Catholic priest
  • Within 180 days of hire:
    • Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist (EME) Certification
    • Basic Catechist Certification
    • FOCCUS Facilitator qualification (marriage preparation)
  • At least 6 months of experience as a Lector.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Catholic religious education, traditions, customs, and sacraments.
  • Experience in training and coordinating volunteers.
  • Ability to type 40 wpm and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Must pass a national background check and complete child protection training before working with children.
  • MUST PROVIDE YOUR RESUME AND TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION (one from your priest, one from another Catholic priest).


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Work will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to obtain base access and comply with all security requirements.
  • This contract is funded by the U.S. Government, subject to renewal.
