Job Summary
POSITION:
Works with general supervision to prepare materials and set up classrooms for training and instruction. Participates and assists in lesson planning and carrying out supervisor assigned tasks to reinforce instruction and/or tutor students. Performs a wide variety of related tasks to assist and care for students while they are under school supervision. The Marin County Office of Education operates classes for the education of children who need more support in an alternative setting that includes a higher staff to student ratio, trauma-informed systems, and restorative practices.
This position will support the Car Appreciation and Preservation Program (CAPP) classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m. This position will run from September 9 – December 11 in the fall, and January 13 – May 21 in the spring.

Requirements / Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
High school education or recognized equivalent. Requires the ability to foster student development in an assigned student program, run, and lift up to 60 lbs occasionally. Applicants should demonstrate a capacity to work with teenagers, helping them navigate academics, learn to self-regulate, and follow community expectations in line with the alternative education objectives. This experience typically comes from job training or work-related experience. A passing score on the No Child Left Behind Instructional Assistant Competency Test is required for employment unless candidates possess at least 48 semester units of college coursework. Valid California driver’s license is required and the ability to obtain a Class B driver’s license. Bilingual English/Spanish candidate is required.

Employees are required to submit to a Department of Justice background check and provide proof of freedom from tuberculosis and vaccination of Measles.
