The opportunity
At Hitachi Energy, we're leading the way in designing high voltage (HV) devices like gas insulated switchgear and gas circuit breakers (CB). As an intern, you'll support the development of new SF6-free HV circuit breakers by conducting electric field simulations, analyzing test results, and performing basic tests. You'll also help maintain and develop dielectric tools, ensuring our data collection is comprehensive and up-to-date. Join us at Hitachi Energy and contribute to the future of sustainable and efficient high voltage technology. Are you ready to make a difference?
How you’ll make an impact
Understanding gaseous breakdown and flashover processes
Analyzing and evaluating measurement data
Maintaining the breakdown database, including SF6 and alternative gases
Supporting project teams in new high voltage circuit breaker development
Conducting electric field simulations and maintaining dielectric evaluation tools
Performing basic tests related to dielectric design
Familiarizing with and contributing to the evolution of dielectric evaluation tools
Conducting literature searches on breakdown/flashover in relevant conditions, including alternative gases
Your background
Student (preferably Master-level) in Physics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Above average proficiency and interest in programming (e.g., Python and/or Matlab, Excel, utilization of Python libraries)
Fluency in written and spoken English
Ability to work in a team, as well as willingness to handle responsibilities independently
Nice-to-have: knowledge in High-Voltage Engineering and/or experience with electromagnetic simulations, experience with CAD software (e.g. Creo)
