Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and hands-on Controller to oversee the financial operations of our large and growing medical practice and real estate holdings. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in healthcare finance and property management, with the ability to manage day-to-day accounting functions while providing strategic financial insights to leadership. This role requires a proactive leader who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and working directly with transactions, reconciliations, reporting, compliance and long term planning.
Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for both the medical practice and real estate entities.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Healthcare Practice Accounting
- Ensure compliance with healthcare financial regulations and coding requirements.
- Monitor physician compensation models, expense allocations, and profitability by service line.
Real Estate Financial Oversight
- Track rental income, property expenses, and lease agreements.
- Sworn Statement Construction draws, tracking and bank financing.
- Prepare financial reports for real estate assets, including capital expenditures, debt service, and investment performance.
- Coordinate with property managers, tenants, and external vendors as needed.
Compliance & Audit
- Maintain compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and healthcare industry standards.
- Work with external auditors and tax advisors to prepare filings and support year-end audits.
- Implement and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Lead and mentor a small accounting/finance team.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements across accounting systems.
- Partner with executives on strategic initiatives, financial planning, and long-term growth strategies.
Other
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May oversee the day-to-day operations in the absence of direct supervisor.
Requirements
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including medical practice management and real estate accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, healthcare billing, and property management financials.
- Hands-on proficiency with accounting systems - Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Proven track record of managing multiple entities and complex ownership structures.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
