Overview:

Sentara Health is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our Digital Solutions team!

We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer with expertise in mobile development (iOS using Xcode, Android using Android Studio) and web development using React.

The ideal candidate will lead and contribute to the design, development, deployment, and support of high-quality applications across platforms.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain digital apps (iOS/Android) and web apps using React.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and mentorship to development team members.
  • Ensure code quality and performance through best practices, testing, and DevOps integration.
  • Support production issues, implement enhancements, and contribute to platform migration efforts.
  • Document technical designs, write clean code, and support full SDLC processes.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
  • 8+ years of relevant experience with a degree 
  • 10+ years of relevant experience without a degree 

Certification/Licensure

  • No specific certification or licensure requirements

Experience

  • 8+ years of software development experience (degree or equivalent work experience).
  • Strong expertise in React.js, Xcode (Swift/Objective-C), and Android Studio (Java/Kotlin).
  • Experience with REST APIs, version control (Git), CI/CD, and agile development.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and mentor junior developers.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Nice to Have:
  • Experience with backend technologies (Node.js, .NET Core, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Knowledge of mobile-web integration and PWAs
