Your Impact

At this role you will a major contributor towards the development of future Virtual Reality training peripherals, supporting robotic accessories, and TASER de-escalation devices intended for Law Enforcement and Civilians. Write Code and Save Lives with functional programming of business logic, advancing the testability of core critical APIs, and applying architectural design patterns to produce modular, portable, and scalable logic intended for broad device adoption.

Further evolve the foundational libraries for the next generation of AXON TASER devices as they become further connected, providing broader insight towards telemetry data to grant insight towards in field performance, and institute greater accountability of weapon effectiveness and customer accountability. Join a team of Obsessed developers in the migration to broader RUST language adoption, as we take Security and Cryptographic design within TASER to the next level. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Project Lead : All Team members are expected to be contributors on any program. As a Senior, it would be expected to also act a primary owner to at least one major projects.
  • Individual Contributor : The team supports TASER core, VR, Civilian, and Venture pillars. IC work will be expected on project where another developer may be lead/primary.
  • Architectural Design : Understanding, and Contributor on System Layers, Boundaries, Data Exchange, Interface Contracts, Etc. It will be expected to perform technical presentation around Design Decisions.
  • Documentation : Diagrams, Learning, and Considerations are expected to be continuous creations, containing Learning, Considerations, Metrics and are expected during all stages of development, conveying of important or relevant subject matter to the broader team.
  • Continuous Integration, Continuous Design : CI/CD is a staple of development, and critical to acceleration in programs while achieving quality standards. As such, this role shall contain various requirements for development of Test Coverage Code, Acceptance Test run against Hardware, and various Software Services required to achieve these end goals.
  • Git Leverage : Advanced understanding of Git, Workflows, as well as internal capabilities such as Action Runners or AI Co-Pilot capabilities.
  • Mentor and Lite Project Manager : At a Senior level, it is expected that guidance shall be given to Jr. Engineers in regards to capabilities and subject matters, both technical and professional. Experience with Task scope estimation, scope breakdown, and schedule negotiation in support of Project and Program cross functional members.
  • Use Case Demonstrations : Being experienced with the products which are supported by the development team. Hands on use of products is necessary both to ensure achievement of expected behavior, but also in providing understanding of technical aspects upon consultation.

    • Undergraduate/Master BS, Military Equivalency, or Professional Certifications
  • Experience:
    • Production Environment Development
    • 7-10+ years Embedded Software Development:
      • Rust, C, C++
      • MCUs, MPUs, SOMs, Bare-Metal, Zephyr, FreeRTOS
    • 7-10+ years Software Development: 
      • Rust, C, C++, Python 3, C#, Java, JavaScript, GO, Micro Python
      • OS : Windows, Mac, Linux
      • Mobile : Android, iOS
  • Technical Maturities:
    • FA, ASPICE, Functional Safety, Cryptography (Embeddded, x509, Data Privacy), Git Workflows, Component/Sequence/UML Diagrams, Data Serialization Languages, Data Structures
  • Cross Functional:
    • General Public Speaking Capabilities, Presentation preparation skills, Small Technical Group discussions around Design Decisions, and Documented Workflows.
  • Values:
