This position is a key leadership position responsible for advancing the office’s mission to foster a sense of belonging and enhance student support. They will lead initiatives related to scholarship management, K-12 partnerships, and first-year student success, in alignment with institutional priorities.

Primary Duties

  • Provide strategic leadership in the coordination and execution of scholarship programs, K-12 outreach, and first-year success efforts.
  • Supervise, motivate, and evaluate professional staff to meet the goals of OSSB and drive organizational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with divisional partners to enhance communication and streamline scholarship processes.
  • Identify and implement professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Lead annual assessment and oversee internal and external communication efforts in coordination with the Assistant Vice President (AVP).
  • Develop and formalize success coaching processes, optimizing outreach and coaching models.
  • Establish and manage industry-sponsored partnerships within the HBCU/HSI Consortium.
  • Act as a Success Coach for the HBCU/HSI Consortium, providing direct student support.
  • Partner with University Development to identify and cultivate giving opportunities for OSSB, the EDEO division, and related university initiatives.
  • Foster and maintain strong collaborative relationships through active participation in community events and representation on various committees.
  • Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education/student affairs, multicultural studies, social work, or related field.
  • Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and staff at all levels in a complex and diverse environment.
  • Budget, grant writing implementation, and assessment experience.
  • Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to equity and student development.
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data/information.
  • Experience working with college or university students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong customer service skills and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work independently, while also working well in a team environment.
  • A high degree of confidentiality, discretion, judgment, collaboration, and the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekend hours as needed.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Master’s degree.
  • Familiarity with major university data systems (Workday, Banner, and OnBase).

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment. Some travel and nights/weekend work may be required.

Salary & Benefits: Minimum starting salary $76,600, commensurate with experience
