Position Overview:

Bethany College seeks a creative, mission-driven professional to serve as the Coordinator of Social Media and Strategic Communications. This individual will develop, curate, and implement digital and written content that informs, inspires, and engages key audiences, including prospective students, current students, alumni, donors, and families of current and prospective students.

The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing Bethany College’s goals in enrollment growth, student retention, and philanthropic giving by delivering clear, consistent, and compelling storytelling across multiple platforms.

Essential Functions:

Social Media Strategy & Management

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Manage official Bethany College social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.), ensuring content is timely, engaging, and brand-aligned.
  • Monitor analytics and engagement metrics to evaluate performance and inform strategy.
  • Collaborate with Enrollment, Advancement, and Student Affairs teams to highlight campus life, student success stories, and donor impact.

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Write, edit, and design digital and print communications that support recruitment, retention, and fundraising goals.
  • Create and manage a content calendar that aligns with key campaigns (e.g., Giving Day, admissions cycles, alumni engagement).
  • Produce inspiring feature stories, profiles, and visuals that celebrate the Bethany experience and its people.
  • Coordinate photography, video, and multimedia projects to enhance storytelling and engagement.

Strategic Communications & Collaboration

  • Partner with the Enrollment and Advancement teams to craft targeted messaging for prospective students, families, alumni, and donors.
  • Support internal communications that strengthen campus culture and community pride.
  • Maintain consistent brand voice and visual identity across all communication channels.

Qualifications:

 Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of professional experience in social media management, digital marketing, or content creation.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout, Meta Business Suite).
  • Proficiency in basic graphic design (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Experience in higher education marketing or nonprofit communications.
  • Familiarity with enrollment and fundraising communications strategies.
  • Basic photography and video editing skills.

Working Conditions

  • Office on the campus of Bethany College, Lindsborg, KS
  • Monday – Friday, usually 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, depending on activities at Bethany College
  • Evenings and weekends may sometimes occur
  • Travel Requirement – 10%
  • Sitting for long periods, inside, stable temperature
  • Will need to walk around campus during the year in different kinds of weather
