JOB OVERVIEW:  

The Materials Handler II position manages the receipt of incoming shipments and ensures products are accurately inspected, documented, and stored. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting overall warehouse operations. This role contributes to a seamless supply chain process, ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. This position works together with the Kitting/Shipping team. Any downtime will be spent cross-training in the roles and responsibilities of the shipping or kitting department. This allows for cross-departmental work experience. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Leads and oversees the unloading of incoming shipments, ensuring proper handling, organization, and efficiency. 

  • Verifies and documents incoming shipments with greater accuracy, addressing discrepancies and initiating corrective actions. 

  • Updates and maintains inventory systems, ensuring stock levels are accurate and discrepancies are resolved quickly. 

  • Implements and optimizes organization methods to improve warehouse efficiency, including proper storage techniques. 

  • Performs cycle counts and audits to ensure inventory accuracy and proactively identify stock shortages or overages. 

  • Operates forklifts and material handling equipment with proficiency, training others as needed. 

  • Collaborates with multiple departments (Shipping, Kitting, Production) to streamline logistics and ensure the timely availability of materials. 

  • Participates in process improvement initiatives, suggesting and implementing workflow efficiencies. 

  • Mentors team members, assisting in training and onboarding new hires. 

  • Cross-trains in other warehouse roles, including shipping, kitting, and logistics coordination, to provide backup support when needed. 

  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations, reports hazards, and assists in maintaining a safe work environment. 

  • Ad-hoc projects as needed. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 

  • 3-5 years’ experience in inventory management. 

  • Experience with ERP systems (preferred) 

  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:    

  • Possesses effective communication skills. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • A self-starter and detail-oriented. 

  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills. 

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with both internal and external organizations 

  • Ability to prioritize multiple activities while working both independently and in a team environment. 

  • Knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies to enhance inventory accuracy, efficiency, and waste reduction. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The physical demands for this role include standing for extended periods, frequent walking, and performing repetitive motions such as bending, lifting, and reaching.  There may be times that involve prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a computer, and engaging in repetitive hand movements for tasks like typing or writing. Employees must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier items with assistance. The role may involve operating machinery, using hand tools, and maintaining precise hand-eye coordination. Good hearing and manual dexterity are essential for safely performing tasks and ensuring product quality. Vision requirements are the ability to adjust focus and identify and distinguish colors  

The work environment for this role is in a manufacturing facility with machinery, tools, and materials, requiring adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Noise levels can be high, and tasks may involve lifting or moving parts. Minimal time will be spent in wet or humid conditions, and near caustic or toxic chemicals. 


COMPENSATION RANGE: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
