Position: Assistant Site Superintendent

Status: Full time, Permanent

Location: Ohio History Center & Ohio Village

Salary: $55,161.60 per year

Summary:

The Assistant Site Superintendent assists the Site Superintendent with the implementation and management of day-to-day efficient museum operations at Ohio History Center & Ohio Village. Supervises Visitor Services staff, Project Assistant and Maintenance/Custodial operations at Ohio History Center & Ohio Village. The Assistant Site Superintendent also acts as administrative support related to the financial health of the museum, overseeing timely submission of administrative and financial reports and coordinating work efforts with other areas of Ohio History Connection. In addition to managing the Visitor Services team, Project Assistant and the Maintenance & Custodial Team. The Assistant Site Superintendent assumes supervision of all site staff in the site Superintendent's absence.


Essential Functions:

  • Provide engaged, inspired, professional leadership for the site including all aspects of its daily operation. Work in close coordination with the site Superintendent as a leadership team.
  • Train and supervise site staff; facilitate employee development and empower staff to make decisions within a scope appropriate to their work. Schedule staff as needed to cover site operations. Maintain a high level of morale and provide direction.
  • Support and coordinate event and program planning in partnership with Site Superintendent and Interpretive Supervisor.
  • Directly supervise Visitor Services staff in growing and managing the front facing visitor experience. Leads visitor facing operations including daily management of point-of-sale systems for ticketing, membership sales and retail. Supervises the Project Assistant in all ticketed reservations and events.
  • Directly supervise the Maintenance & Custodial staff in managing custodial staffing for daily operations and programs and basic building maintenance. Coordinate as needed with Statewide Maintenance and Engineering Team on larger jobs and grounds management.
  • Coordinate on the Retail Operations Team with the Retail Coordinator and other OHC managed sites on merchandising, pricing, and inventory in on-site museum store(s).
  • Coordinate site calendar/activities among Visitor Services, Maintenance & Grounds, and Interpretive teams. Prepare and submit daily and monthly plans, reports, and records as required including facilities use plan, site preservation monitoring, visitation data, purchases, inventory and receipts of sales operation, etc.
  • Assume overall site management duties when the Site Superintendent is off duty.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or four years' experience in similar operations and management, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience. With related supervisory, retail, community relations, and/or finance management experience, total should be five to ten years of experience.

  • Experience managing staff teams.
  • Proficiency in various office software suites and virtual platforms, including but not limited to Microsoft 365.
  • Proficiency in point-of-sales systems and sales transactions.
