Job Details:

Under general supervision, the Asset System Analyst Intern will gain hands-on experience and professional development by assisting the Asset Management Facility Services division with the development of work orders and asset management software. The intern will assist with the division’s repairs, building interior and exteriors maintenance, as well as major building components such as electrical systems, elevators, fire alarm systems, generators, HVAC, and plumbing.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Asset System Analyst Intern will gain hands-on experience and professional development by assisting the Asset Management Facility Services division with the development of work orders and asset management software. The intern will assist manage the data related to repairs and maintenance, building interior and exteriors maintenance, as well as major building components such as electrical systems, elevators, fire alarm systems, generators, HVAC, and plumbing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Analyze and research data utilizing the asset management system to prepare cost projections, condition/aging analysis, and specialized reports and maps.
• Update the asset management system with completed maintenance from field work activity, develop proposed maintenance and replacement lists, by thinking critically and troubleshooting problems.
• Design and create digital maps with geographic data and other data sets, identify patterns and trends by analyzing spatial data, and effectively visualize data using ESRI product suite software or other GIS software.
• Support the users of the department’s asset management systems as it relates to entering and retrieving data, accessing reports, performing queries, and accessing other types of system functionality.
• Work with the City's Information Technology staff and system vendor as necessary to complete or coordinate modifications.
Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
• Skill in entering data via computer at an efficient speed with few errors.
• Skill in communicating ideas to all types of individuals both orally and in writing.
• Skill in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral and written communication.
• Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs), calculators and telephones.
• Ability to be taught how to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and technical documentation.
• Ability to prioritize workload with limited supervision.
• Ability to be taught how to interpret database table relationships.
• Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including, but not limited to, seeing, sitting, walking, and typing.
• Ability to write custom queries and reports to specification.
• Ability to think critically and troubleshoot problems.
• Ability to be taught how to write documentation including, but not limited to, training manuals, job aides and change logs.
• Ability to be taught how to coordinate the implementation of new systems, processes, and practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Knowledge of continuous process improvement techniques and practices.
• Knowledge of research and analysis methods and survey techniques.
• Knowledge of system design and implementation techniques.
• Knowledge of relational database use and design.
• Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) concepts, preferably ESRI product suite.
• Knowledge of existing and emerging technologies, specifically mobile, wireless and web applications.
• Knowledge of report writing software.
• Knowledge of programming or scripting languages.
• Knowledge of asset management and work management concepts.
• Knowledge of public sector operational techniques.
• Knowledge of project management.
Qualifying Education and Experience
• Currently pursuing courses to obtain a Bachelors in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Management Information Systems (MIS), Public Administration, or Business Administration, preference will be given to Honors students.
