The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for a Project Coordinator - Construction to join our team.  The Project Coordinator assists in coordinating construction projects from pre-construction through completion, representing the owner’s interests and supporting the Senior Construction Project Manager. You will also work closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to help ensure successful project delivery. This role requires a strong communicator with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills who can manage internal and external administrative processes, track construction progress, and keep project documentation highly organized and up to date.

 

Your role in action:

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction project activities to align with the owner’s goals, timeline, and budget.
  • Provide high-level administrative and organizational support to the Project Team across all phases of project execution.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments (e.g., legal, procurement, finance, facilities, operations) to ensure alignment and integration of project priorities.
  • Manage internal and external administrative processes related to project execution and compliance.
  • Monitor construction progress through site visits and communications and prepare progress reports for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Manage and maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, meeting minutes, and correspondence.
  • Ensure that all project records are accurate, well-organized, and readily accessible.
  • Proactively manage project-related issues, identifying potential challenges early and escalating as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating and tracking Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and maintain consistent, organized electronic filing systems. 
  • Prepare and submit timely deliverables and updates to leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Foster strong working relationships with team members, vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Perform any additional related tasks as assigned by project leadership or senior management.

What qualifications you will need:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or General Education diploma.

Experience:

  • Entry level, no experience required.
  • Internship or prior experience in a construction-related or project coordination role preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction project delivery methods and basic understanding of building systems preferred.
  • Experience supporting or managing RFP and contract documentation preferred.

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, terminology, and project workflows.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
