Big-D Heavy Industrial has opportunities for Laborers to work on a project in Morenci, AZ. This is a temporary position for a nine-day project in Morenci, AZ in October 2025.

About The Project:

  • Positions Available: Laborer and Confined-Space Firewatch (2 openings)

  • Location: Transportation provided from Safford, AZ

  • Project Duration: 9–10 days (shutdown work) in October

  • Schedule: 10-hour days for training; 12–14-hour workdays during shutdown

  • Per-diem provided

Experience/Training:

  • No experience required/entry level

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

  • Basic OSHA and similar training is necessary; training will be provided. 
  • Ability to follow verbal directions, implement changes, and monitor material and equipment usage.
  • Ability to identify proper tools for specific functions.
  • Ability to listen and follow directions.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to adhere to strict quality control measures.
  • Ability to read and understand safety signs, instructions for tools and equipment.

Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations: (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)

  • Could also be involved with installation of protection (floors, walls, casework, etc.), installation of doors, hardware, trim, division 10 specialties, completion of minor punch list items and minor touch-up, demolition, and other daily items that might arise due to project conditions, schedule, and needs from project management.
  • Assists craftsmen for the following activities in their crew: developing and building a working relationship with co-workers, motivating crew to ensure quality and sustained Big-D values, evaluating information to determine compliance with standards, coordinating work and activities of others, resolving conflicts and negotiating with others.
  • Perform general housekeeping activities to ensure a clean job site
  • Remove ice and snow from worksites and walkways
  • Clean, scrape, stack, sort and band construction materials
  • Load and unload construction materials.
  • Climbs ladders, concrete formwork, or any other structures necessary and access elevated areas.
  • Adheres to and performs functions according to company and OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Moves and lifts heavy objects.
  • Performs demolition or repairs on existing structures, and repairs cracks, defects, or damage in installed building materials.
  • Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position.
  • Performs other duties as determined and required by project need.
  • Applies adhesives, caulking, sealants, or coatings.
  • Digs holes or trenches for foundations, posts, poles, or related items.

  • Gloves (Provided by Big-D)

  • Reflective Vest / Shirt (Provided by Big-D)

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and/or hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. The employee must also lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee may be required to lift heavy objects in awkward positions that require flexible range of motion. Specific vision abilities include close vision and peripheral vision. The employee is also required to frequently inspect the project and will be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions, including rain, sleet, snow, wind, and heat. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. The employee is also required to frequently walk on uneven surfaces. Safety requirements necessitate no language barrier exist between employees and supervisors.

Hazards: May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold as well as certain unsafe environments; occasionally works near moving equipment and mechanical parts and electrical equipment; possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles; possible exposure to internal liquids. This is a safety sensitive position where a momentary lapse of attention can result in serious injury or death. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally very loud. Must follow all safety requirements carefully.
