| The individual in this position will be a Senior Director of Business Development in the Integrated Defense Solutions team, within the Intelligence and Security Sector of BAE Systems, Inc. The primary customer focus will be Army, Navy, Combatant Commands, and/or the Missile Defense Agency. BAE Systems Inc. is one of the world’s foremost defense and technology companies. The person in this role will be an individual contributor, and also serve as a senior leader in the wider Business Winning Organization. You will provide leadership based on BD experience within a team of 6 senior BD professionals; and provide leadership of individual capture teams. You, as the Senior BD Director, will act as BD manager for discreet opportunities. This role is the tip of the spear to bring new work and growth into BAE Systems Inc. Your #1 job will be to win new work. Your primary task will be to identify and qualify new opportunities. You will be responsible for the generation of qualified pipeline growth necessary to meet or exceed the business unit’s forecast and plan. You will drive the organization’s strategic growth objectives by developing and refining an understanding of customers’ most important needs and creating/leading winning strategies for new business opportunities. For each opportunity, you will provide leadership and a smooth ramp up of capture activities; and, at the appropriate time, work closely in support of the assigned Capture Manager. Success in this position will require the application of industry best practices developed over years in roles of increasing responsibility, in defense companies, supporting some combination of Army, Navy, COCOM, or MDA clients. Capture teams include individuals with diverse skill sets and roles: this Senior BD Director role requires you to cultivate strong professional relationships across all functions of the capture teams and the wider corporation, from the program team to the capture team to other essential functions. This role requires leadership. You will be one of the most senior members of an experienced BD team and a broader Business Winning team. You will lead individual, ad hoc capture teams. You will interact with many leaders throughout the corporation. Most importantly, you will represent BAE Systems Inc. to US Government clients. Customer engagement is another essential attribute of this role. You must be able to develop and execute impactful, effective call plans with the right customers, and gain access to them. You must be able to sell effectively. That includes the ability to represent complex technical solutions in the right way in the right setting, depending on the audience. This role requires efficiency and self-sufficiency in internal BD Administration. This includes preparing and delivering industry standard reviews; understanding and navigating industry standard BD processes; maintaining and updating industry standard pipeline tools; and other aspects of the internal sales process at a large defense firm. |
