Since September 2009, Whitecap has experienced remarkable growth, increasing production from 850 boe/d to over 365,000 boe/d. As a majority owner and operator of the Weyburn EOR Project, annually we safely sequester approximately 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 making it a unique project within our portfolio. Position Overview
Our Geosciences team is looking for a summer student to work in our Calgary office for a 4-month term. We welcome graduate students with relevant work experience who are returning to school in the Fall, to submit their cover letter and resume.
Key Responsibilities
Working alongside a team of professional geoscientists and engineers within one of our two Asset Divisions, specific responsibilities and learnings will include:
Well log interpretation, analysis, and tops picking
Detailed geological mapping on a regional, and area-specific scale to identify future drilling locations and estimate reserves
Utilizing software’s such as but not limited to GeoScout, Petrel, and StarSteer
Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team
Present to team members, as well as management
Primary Qualifications
Candidates will be in the process of obtaining an undergraduate or graduate degree in Geology.
Previous experience in the energy industry would be an asset but is not required.

Ability to work in a team environment, and strong verbal and written communication skills
