Director Distribution and Logistics, Richemont, New York NY

Primary Duties:

 

Influences, leads and implements the agreed to strategy to drive an economically competitive distribution, logistics and supply chain function while ensuring the day-to-day operations, and project/continuous improvement activities are operating in a timely and proper manner. The Director, Distribution and Logistics oversees forward/reverse logistics operations and partnerships related to these functions.

In collaboration with other regional and central distribution and logistics management, the Director will enforce and maintain the group, regional, and Maison’s service commercial policies (cost, value, service lead time, quality, customer interaction, etc.) while driving continuous improvement/projects to support the strategy, and new processes and systems to provide scalability and flexibility to the organization. The Director, Distribution and Logistics will be a driving force with key initiatives, issues, and projects to enhance and achieve the overall logistics functions performance, strategy, and vision. Participation in the overall compliance efforts of the function and region to ensure both legal, company, and ethical requirements are met.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Operational Management:

  • Management of specific internal and 3PL sites of RNA Logistics operations through proper planning and application of procedures to meet key objectives related to: Productivity/Efficiency, Lead time, Quality, Budget, Value, Cost planning, Operating expenses, and Inventory management, including accuracy/shrink.
  • Lead, plan, and direct continuous improvement culture and initiatives in areas of responsibility within distribution and logistics, both collaborating with and positively influencing where needed.
  • Plan and partner with Distribution leadership team during planning process to ensure Distribution and Logistics meets business needs, process improvements, enhancements, innovations and continuously upgrading to meet market demands. 
  • Provide direction, oversight, performance, and improvement for areas of direct responsibility.

Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and implement a continuous improvement culture throughout the organization based on lean and six sigma, in order to drive value through enhancing the customer experience while maintaining financial efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.  Development of key strategic initiatives to build best in class logistics organization.
  • Maintain and gain knowledge in the luxury industry, distribution, e-commerce, and logistics through attending workshops, industry leader seminars, benchmarking, and group conferences to ensure we are forward thinking and planful for market changes.

Brand/Partner relationship management

  • Collaborate with key brand and partner members both regionally and globally to enhance planning, accountability, and efficiency in both up and down stream processes.  Collaborate with all involved on key strategic initiatives to enhance service levels for the customers in both B2B and B2C initiatives. 
  • Provide effective, regular and open two way communication on performance, opportunities, desires, and concerns to build alignment on expectations and priorities to ensure the organization is providing value to the brands and their customers.  Looking for additional opportunities to continuously understand and improve the value to the brands.

People Management

  • Create a culture of open dialogue, sound judgement, trust, enthusiasm and empowerment for all levels of the organization.  Hold management team accountable to leading and exemplifying the desired culture. Ensure the Distribution and Logistics leadership team has the resources and tools to lead their teams to success.
  • Collaborate and partner with HR on: 
    • Developing yearly intentions for Direct Reports and below aligned with and in support of overall RNA and group objectives.
    • Developing people to create a robust succession and retention plan for each managerial position with a focus on the right person in each positon and depth in leadership.
    • Ensuring we are sourcing, developing, and retaining top talent, benefits and value for employees are meaningful.

 

Qualifications

 

Education: 

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, logistics, or business related field preferred
  • Masters degree is a plus

 

Required Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years management experience in operations with supervision of direct reports and diverse teams.
  • Financial planning and managing for OPEX and CAPEX.
  • Data driven individual with a working Knowledge of Total Quality Management (TQM), Lean, and Six Sigma concepts:
  • Working knowledge of Import/Export activities, 3PL, International Trade, Business improvement Planning and execution.
  • Experience working in a luxury goods environment a plus.
  • Company Policy and Compliance management experience.

 

Technical Skills/Abilities: 

  • Exceptional skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, word, power point, access)
  • Utilization of SAP ERP system for logistics and transportation related aspects a plus
  • Utilization of SAP Business Warehouse for reporting on logistics and transportation related aspects a plus
  • Project management skills 

Personal Skills:

  • Executive presence, strong managerial and leadership skills.
  • Conceptual / analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Detail oriented in the implementation of strategy and business evolution projects.
  • Good interpersonal skills; ability to handle problematic issues and balance multiple projects and organizational shifts simultaneously.
  • Outstanding organizational, EQ & communication skills required.
  • Inspired and motivated to build and develop strong teams and talent pipelines.
  • Ability to turn strategic plans into executional tactical plans.
