Summary of Responsibilities: The Staff Audiologist oversees the Hearing Conservation and all related audiology training and education at all Electric Boat Locations in collaboration with the Manager of Occupational Health & Audiology and the Medical Director.
Audiology Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnostic and routine audiology testing pertaining to OSHA requirements and worker’s compensation status
- Oversee OSHA hearing conservation program including all annual audiograms
- Assess hearing loss and identify cause of loss
- Utilize audiometric tests and air/bone conduction tests for assessments
- Coordination of all audiogram testing for all EB locations
- Maintain regulatory compliance for OSHA testing
- Communicate among health care staff, EB work force, and EB management
- Analysis of data pertaining to trends regarding hearing loss and protection
- Knowledge of laws and regulations that govern occupation and environment hearing programs
- Medical background to treat auditory injuries and illness
- Assessment of needs for restrictions and accommodations within the work environment
- Education of employees on importance of hearing protection. Design and implement specific job related interactive training for employees in the Hearing Conservation Program
- Train clinical support staff as CAHOC technicians and recertify per schedule
- Completion of monthly audiology reports
Work Hours/ Location
- Eight-hour shift. Shifts subject to change. Variations occur generally between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m., with rare instances of weekend coverage
- Groton Shipyard
- Travel to off sites required
Required:
- Minimum of Master’s degree in Audiology or 4+ years related job experience in occupational hearing conservation
- Appropriate state licenses, CT and RI or ability to obtain
- Experience with dispensing hearing aids
- Experience troubleshooting hearing quipment
- Experience in fitting custom hearing protection
- Experience with computer and electronic health record
- Problem-solving and work flow management skills
