Responsibilities:What you will be doing:
Distribution System Installation and Maintenance
- Direct proper installation and maintenance of distribution system.
- Actively participate in training on the installation and operations of all new electrical equipment.
- Promptly inform supervisor of any unusual job conditions that require corrective action.
- Effectively assign personnel and equipment for maximum productivity.
Crew Support Duties
- Effectively perform duties of line crew, as required.
- Complete daily time sheets.
- Maintain knowledge of system changes.
- Monitor accuracy of material records daily.
- Effectively conduct daily tailgate meetings
Customer Inquiries
- Resolve customer inquiries in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
- Minimize inquiries forwarded to higher management for final decision, approval, or response.
- Ensure line crew personnel are courteous and helpful to customers and are promptly handling customer requests.
Supervision
- Handle all aspects of employment for subordinate staff, including hiring, promotion, training, and termination.
- Appropriately document actions in employment issues.
- Coach and direct learning through direct involvement and reinforcement.
- Analyze and manage daily workload and schedules.
- Monitor performance and conduct performance planning and review sessions.
- Ensure fair and consistent treatment of departmental employees.
- Actively support the efforts and intent of Equal Employment Opportunity.
Minimum Requirements:
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
High School or equivalent.
Minimum eight years’ electric utility line construction and maintenance experience. With a minimum of three years’ experience as Journeyman or First Class Lineman.
Specialized training in live-line work and applied electricity.
Demonstrated proficiency in performing live-line work in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution power lines.
Knowledge of distribution substations; ability to bypass substation equipment; expertise in the principles of electricity.
Thorough knowledge of Georgia Utility Facility Protection Act (GUFPA) regulations and MSDS procedures.
Thorough knowledge of first aid and safety rules and regulations, including safety procedures for confined and enclosed spaces.
SKILLS:
Ability to operate substation and line apparatus for test purposes.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Possess valid Class A Commercial Georgia driver’s license and relevant endorsements.
Possess valid Georgia Flagging Certification and Cobb County Excavating and Trenching Certification.
Possess an Integrated Transmission System (ITS) Operator's Certification.
