About the Department

DEFINITION
Position Duties
- Issues borrower cards, collects fines and appropriate fees, processes materials for circulation.
- Assists library patrons by providing routine directional assistance.
- Operates a variety of equipment such as copy machines, computers, and calculators.
- Sorts, shelves and mends library materials.
- This position may include driving the library Bookmobile to various locations within the City of Azusa.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Example combinations include graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Experience: At least one year of customer experience is highly desirable. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
- Display a friendly and helpful attitude.
- Be dependable and punctual.
- Possess the ability to learn library procedures and practices including the location of materials in the library, and demonstrate a commitment to safety.
- Understand and follow verbal and written directions.
- Read and straighten out assigned book shelves.
Other Qualifications
- Possession of or ability to obtain a Class C California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- The incumbent must have the ability to work occasional weekends, evenings and/or holidays and be flexible in working hours.
