The Position
TemporaryPhD Internship in Lead Discovery
In Roche's Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed. This position is located in Lead Discovery, a department within Small Molecule Research which is part of the Therapeutic Modalities function, where the discovery of chemical starting points for further optimization in medicinal chemistry is a primary focus. We closely collaborate with our therapeutic areas and functions to convert hypotheses into innovative therapeutics.
Role Mission
We would like to offer the opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled PhD student to join our dynamic research team as a temporary intern in Lead Discovery. This role involves assisting our efforts to improve our G Protein-Coupled Receptor Drug Discovery platform by integrating molecular biology tools to interrogate Receptor Bias. If you're ready to apply your academic knowledge and laboratory skills in a real-world setting, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
Your Impact
Experimental Design and Execution: With the supervision of an experienced scientist you will plan and implement a molecular biological system that will allow for the interrogation of Receptor Bias of G Protein-Coupled Receptors.
Data Analysis and Interpretation: You will analyze data using statistical methods, present findings clearly, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform future research directions.
Collaborative Teamwork: Engage with data scientists for results interpretation and model building.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain precise laboratory records, prepare reports, and deliver presentations to stakeholders.
Adherence to Safety and Regulatory Standards: Follow safety protocols, regulatory guidelines, and assist in developing and maintaining SOPs.
Your Profile
We are looking for a student that is enrolled in a PhD program with solid laboratory training. Experience with cell culture and assays would be ideal, however, an enthusiasm to learn is also highly valued. You should have an interest in data with good analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
You thrive in a dynamic, inclusive environment which gives you full accountability for your own contributions and development. You have a keen interest in continuously building a personal network. You are resourceful and flexible in problem solving and in working in a collaborative and inclusive manner. You have great oral and written communication skills and are interested in participating in effective meetings.
