Position Overview: The Allocation Analyst Intern will support the Allocation and Planning teams in optimizing inventory distribution across retail locations to drive sales and ensure the right product is in the right place at the right time. This internship offers hands-on experience in analyzing sales trends, monitoring inventory performance, and supporting allocation strategies in partnership with the Buying and Planning teams. The Allocation Analyst Intern reports into the Director of Planning.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

• Assist in executing daily allocation and replenishment activities to maintain in-stock levels and support key product launches.
• Analyze sales and inventory data to identify store-level trends and opportunities to improve product availability.
• Support the Allocation and Planning teams in reviewing sales performance and stock levels to recommend product transfers or adjustments.
• Partner with Buying and Planning to help track initial allocations for new items and seasonal assortments.
• Prepare and maintain reporting tools to summarize store performance, sell-through, and inventory by region or product category.
• Collaborate with Distribution Center and Allocation team members to monitor product flow and resolve shipment or inventory discrepancies.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to observe decision-making around inventory planning and allocation strategies.
• Contribute to process improvement discussions and share observations from your analysis and daily tasks. 

 

Skills & Qualifications 

• Working toward a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or Analytics• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; comfortable working with numbers and Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (basic formulas, sorting, and pivot tables preferred).
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication; collaborative and proactive in a team setting.
• Eagerness to learn the connection between allocation, buying, and planning functions.
• Ability to work on-site at The Paper Store Corporate Office in Acton, MA, five days per week.
