About the Department
This is the sixth step in the Inspector series and is a management level position. Incumbent has budget responsibility and is responsible for the implementation of programs, functions, or services. Incumbent can expect to be assigned to any functional area within the TGO; including rotating job assignments, rotating shifts, and varied work schedules.
Position Duties
- Manage staff, prioritize and assign work, conduct performance evaluations, ensure staff is trained and follow rules, regulations, laws and policies, complied with and ensure that employees follow policies and procedures, and maintain a healthy and safe working environment.
- Make hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
- Develop and implement employee corrective action plans.
- Approve/Disapprove employee timesheets.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate strategic short- and long-range program goals and objectives; interpret and apply policies and procedures.
- Oversee department programs by reviewing processes, forms, and documents for compliance with operational policies and procedures.
- Serve as a liaison with other public agencies, municipalities, citizens and external organizations.
- Research, develop, and prepare a variety of reports, correspondence, and documentation; analyzes statistics and data.
- Perform complex or technical review of work completed by lower-level staff.
- Administer and monitor the departmental budget including allocate resources and approve expenditures.
- Respond to and resolve sensitive questions or concerns from the public, the community, and staff.
- May be assigned to Special Projects and Project Management duties.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:

Other Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and ten (10) years of TGO/Regulatory Gaming experience with a minimum of four (4) years as a supervisor at the Inspector 5 Level; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
SELECTION CRITERIA
FOR EXTERNAL CANDIDATES: After meeting the knowledge, essential skills, training and experience requirements, candidates are invited to take a scored written test and a scored oral board. Top scoring candidates will be referred to the hiring Director for consideration. Tribal Indian Preference laws pertain in all cases.
FOR INTERNAL TGO CANDIDATES: Upon meeting the knowledge, essential skills, training and experience requirements, you become "eligible" for advancement** and may take the scored written test and oral board when offered the top 25% scoring candidates will be placed on the "Eligibility List" for current or future advancement opportunities. The Eligibility Listing expires every nine (9) months and candidate rankings do not carry forward to a new list i.e. candidates must test again to maintain eligibility. In-service grade advancement is not automatic and is based on performance and the employee's ability to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, subject to budgetary considerations and the needs of the TGO.
****TGO employees that are currently under a written improvement plan and/or have been under a written improvement plan or demoted within 12 months of the date of application are ineligible for in-service grade advancement.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class III Gaming License;
- May require a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or NIGA Commissioner's Certification depending on assignment;
- Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License;
- This position will require the incumbent to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends;
- Must pass a background check and drug test. Note: Possession of a valid Class III Gaming License satisfies the background check requirement;
- Must have a current State of Arizona Gaming License. Failure to maintain a current State of Arizona Gaming License will result in termination from this position.
