Qualifications:

 

College hours 15 or High school diploma or GED (with a passing score of 464 on the ParaPro test) for Non-Title I campus

Communicate and work with students with disabilities

Represent the district in a professional manner while in the community

Minimum clerical skills

Good physical and emotional condition

Work with confidential material and student records

Paraprofessional Educational Aide II certificate required once employed

Bus driver certification

 

 

College hours, 48 minimum or score of 464 of ParaPro test

 

Primary Purpose:

 

Provide students with work-related instruction on campus & at various training sites in the community.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in maintaining accurate records of confidential WBL student folders.
  2. Assist in implementing strategies on campus and at community training sites for students with disabilities.
  3. Collect data and maintain student records and charts for determining student progress on campus and community training sites.
  4. Assist in implementing activities recommended by support and related services personnel and supervising WBL teacher.
  5. Assist in implementing behavior intervention strategies to provide success on training sites.
  6. Assist in implementing recommended assistive technology devices used on training sites.
  7. Assist in implementing activities as described in the student’s IEP under the supervision of the WBL teacher.
  8. Conference with the  Program Supervisor & WBL teacher on the progress of the students on the training sites.
  9. Maintain annual bus certification requirements.
  10. Work directly with students and provide job coaching on job sites to assist student in learning job skills.
  11. Assist all special Ed students as needed.
  12. Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
  13. Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.

Equipment Used:

 

Personal computer, copier, calculator, printer, laminator, Smart board.  Dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer. School bus, seat belts, shoulder harnesses, fire extinguisher. Adaptive equipment: wheelchair, wheelchair lifts, wheelchair restraints, automatic lift equipment, ramps, locks, electric changing table, Hoyer lift, assistive technology including voice output device.

 

Working Conditions:

 

Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions.  Moderate lifting, 15 – 44 pounds, carrying light weight, under 15 pounds.   Moderate standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling: ability to drive a school bus in the community May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical Exposed to biological hazards, body fluids and communicable diseases and chemical hazards.
