Job Summary
THE POSITION:
Under the direction of the Project Director III, Migrant Education Program the Coordinator III, Migrant Education Program (MEP), federally funded by Title I Part C, plans, oversees, evaluates, and facilitates the operations, direct services, programs, and activities of the federally mandated MEP components for eligible migrant education students and their parents. Region 10’s MEP staff ensures that the 5,000 migratory children (ages 3-21) meet the same challenging State academic standards that all children are expected to meet and have access to educational opportunities that ensure career and college readiness. Additionally, the Coordinator III administers supplemental instructional and summer school programs included in the Region 10 service agreements in coordination with district staff; provides technical, specialized, consultative, and planning services to districts, and supervises certificated and classified staff. According to the 2021-22 Annual Performance Report, students from Region 10 MEP who use the programs and services provided by LACOE and Los Angeles County school districts exhibit the highest graduation rates compared to those of MEP students from other counties, all students in Los Angeles County, and the state. This highlights the positive impact that these services have on students in the region.
