Oral Surgery Assistant Job Description and Duties:


Are you passionate about patient care and surgical excellence? We’re seeking a dedicated Oral Surgery Assistant to support our oral surgeon in delivering top-tier care before, during, and after procedures. If you're organized, compassionate, and eager to grow in a fast-paced surgical environment, we’d love to meet you!


What You’ll Do

  • Assist with surgical procedures, including operatory setup, anesthesia monitoring, and post-op care
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment following strict safety protocols
  • Take and operate X-rays, CBCT, and intraoral scans
  • Educate patients on oral health, treatment plans, and recovery expectations
  • Maintain accurate dental records and charts
  • Monitor and replenish surgical supplies and medications
  • Coordinate with other offices and manage administrative tasks like scheduling and filing
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, ADA, and Washington State regulations

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of surgical equipment and techniques
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills
  • Ability to stay calm and professional under pressure
  • Detail-oriented with great time management
  • Comfortable working closely with patients and in a team setting

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of dental assisting experience preferred not required
  • Registered Dental Assistant Certification (within 30 days of hire)
  • DAANCE Certification (within first year) will work on this after 6 months of employment
  • ACLS Certification (within first year) will work on this after 6 months of employment
  • BLS Certification (required until ACLS is obtained)
  • Hepatitis B & TB vaccinations and titers


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • 8–10 hours/day of standing, walking, lifting, and assisting patients
  • PPE required (gloves, masks, face shields, PAPR)
  • Exposure to biohazards and infectious materials
  • Black scrubs and athletic shoes required
  • Mostly indoor work with occasional patient discharge outdoors
  • Assisting patients after sedation, must be able to lift and push patients in wheelchair


Schedule & Travel

  • Monday–Friday, 32–40 hours/week
  • Occasional travel to support other offices locally and nationally
